Texas Adventures in a Small Town

Living in Houston is great if you love shopping for vintage and antiques. This weekend we got to drive out to Hempstead, not even an hour out of town, and we got to shop at the Vintage Market Days of North West Houston. I had never gotten to attend a Vintage Market Days show before, but I had heard good things. When I spotted this pair of gorgeous chairs I almost tripped. I love these chairs, but the $1,200 price tag meant I had to walk away with nothing but this picture. They did a great job styling the chairs with the doors.

These yellow chairs almost came home with me. I LOVE the yellow, and they were in great condition, but we are a family of 6 so four chairs just wasn’t going to cut it.IMG_0553

The best part of this trip was getting to see our friends from 27 Cutoff! Matt and April used to live in Houston and then they went and moved to Arkansas. Now Matt makes this gorgeous furniture and they travel around as a family to sell it. IMG_0559

Their sweet daughter painted this sweet Fruits of the Spirit. Don’t forget to snag your 27 Cutoff swag if you see them.IMG_0564

Across from 27 Cutoff is Bobby Boyd Designs.  These pieces are all hand-crafted from repurposed ceiling tins. I didn’t bring these pieces home, but I will show you what I did buy when I get them hung up. I also got to chat with Bobby himself and that was a lot of fun too. IMG_0562

At the end of the shopping trip we got to have dinner with April from 27 Cutoff and Brandy, another friend from Houston. Between our three families we brought our 11 children and we had lots of fun eating Mexican food. IMG_0566

Getting out of Houston every once in a while is so important for me. The chance to get out of the city and enjoy a little bit of the country is refreshing. IMG_0565

I hope you enjoyed this little peak into a Vintage Market Days show and a small town Saturday night.

Tea Party at Church

I know things have been kind of quiet around here lately. To give you an idea of what I am up against at home. My kiddos are on swim team and it is taking over our life.

And then there is this little darling. He is adorable, but he is a mess.

I did get to help decorate for an event at my church this past week. There is a ministry for the widows in our church and I love this sweet group of ladies. Here is my inspiration for the centerpieces.

IMG_0320

I needed to create 12 centerpieces so I went to my workshop and started pulling books and vessels for the flowers. This was one of my first attempts.IMG_0334

I brought everything up to the venue and my girlfriend brought and arranged the flowers.  Most of these things are from France with a few Texas treasures mixed in. I love how everything turned out and the ladies had a wonderful evening. IMG_0341

Hand embroidered linen, with old books and a French tin, all things I love. IMG_0343IMG_0344IMG_0345IMG_0346

I found these 2 giant enamel tea pots during a shopping trip in Waterloo, Belgium. I love all things enamelware so these came home with me without question. Seeing them full of flowers and welcoming ladies to a fabulous evening seemed like a wonderful use for them. IMG_0347IMG_0349

I hope you enjoyed this walk through the tea party. I love getting to use and share my treasures with those I love.IMG_0350
