Have you ever chosen a word for the year? I think it is a wonderful idea to help you focus on a positive change in your life. This year my friend from B & H Handmade had an offer to write your chosen word of the year with her amazing lettering skills. I spent some time deciding what my word would be. It is amazing how God’s word speaks to you when you give it time. What I thought my word would be was no where near what I ended up with. I have decided on Gentleness as my word. Gentleness is one of the fruits of the spirit;
Galatians 5:22-24English Standard Version (ESV)
I am looking for gentleness with my children, with my husband, my friends and with myself.
If you visit Bible Gateway you can type ‘gentleness’ into the search bar and see all of the places in the Bible this word appears. You have your choice of so many different translations, it is a wonderful resource. Seeing all of the different times gentleness is mentioned helps to reinforce how important it really is.
For now I printed a copy of my word and attached it to my planner. This way I can take it with me. Here in my planner, my favorite mug and my bible with a cover I made out of a vintage tea towel.
Do you choose a word for the month or year? How do you use it to encourage you? I hope you all have a wonderful week!
